The inaugural UK Wine Awards launched in 2017 and Croxsons were honoured to not only attend, but to sponsor a category as well. Such awards were designed to showcase the diverse selection of sparking and still wines that England and Wales produce.
Croxsons sponsored the category of Best Overall Sparkling Wine, which was scooped up by Coates & Seely’s La Perfide Blanc De Blancs 2009. The judges of the UK Wine Awards quoted the wine to be ‘Fabulously elegant and refined with the seductive toasted brioche and honey notes of ages’. Congratulation to Coates and Seely!
With 293 entries of wine all produced on the English and Welsh shores, these national wines were judged at high international standards. Coates & Seely were the stand out winners of the competition, picking up an impressive 4 wine trophies out of the 8 that were available to win. Another of the 4 trophies taken home by Coates and Seely was the coveted Supreme Champion trophy, which was awarded to their 100% Chardonnay, La Perfide Blanc De Blancs 2009.
The UK Wine Awards were hosted by the UKVA, the United Kingdom Vineyard Association, who earlier in the year accepted Croxsons to be their Gold Patron due to their continuous support of the evolving wine industry. Croxsons maintain strong relationships with their contacts and were delighted when Lyme Bay Winery, a business they have been associated with for many years, won the Most Outstanding Bacchus award. A proud moment all round.
Tim Croxson, Croxsons COO, was honoured to attend the competition along with Nikki Hamill, Croxsons Specialist Glass Manager. Both were delighted to witness the enthusiasm of the industry come alive within the competition, and through the diverse selection of wines that were entered. Congratulations to all the winners.
