Croxsons Gets Its Hands Dirty for Wildlife: A Morning at Banstead Wildlife Field

On a recent Tuesday morning, six members of the Croxsons team swapped the office for something a little muddier and a lot more rewarding. We made our way to Banstead Wildlife Field in Surrey to take part in a snowdrop planting event organised by Friends of Banstead Wildlife, contributing to a growing network of community-led conservation efforts across the UK.

The morning kicked off at 9:30 am, and while things got underway, the atmosphere was relaxed and unhurried from the start. Within moments of the children joining us, trowels were in hands, and snowdrop bulbs were being pressed into the earth.

Planting for the Future

The planting itself was simple, purposeful, and joyful. Our team worked alongside the children, digging small holes and carefully placing snowdrop bulbs, each one a small investment in the biodiversity of this community green space. For many of the children, it was a rare opportunity to get outdoors, connect with nature, and understand in a very tangible way how human hands can support a thriving ecosystem.

It was informal and relaxed, exactly the kind of event that doesn’t feel like work, but quietly achieves something meaningful. There’s something grounding about planting. You put something in the ground and trust that it will grow, that it will come back year after year, and that the space will be richer for it.

A Tour of the Field — and a Well-Earned Cuppa

Once the planting was done, the organiser led our team on a tour of the wider field, pointing out established habitats, explaining the vision for the space, and sharing what the Friends of Banstead Wildlife have already achieved through their ongoing stewardship. It was inspiring to hear about the long-term thinking behind the project and how community volunteers continue to make a measurable difference to local biodiversity.

The morning wrapped up with a chat and a much-appreciated cup of tea, a chance to reflect on the morning, talk with the organisers, and enjoy that quiet satisfaction that comes from doing something genuinely good.

Part of Something Bigger

For Croxsons, this wasn’t a one-off. As a certified B Corp and primary packaging supplier, we recognise that our responsibilities extend beyond the products we make and the customers we serve. This event at Banstead Wildlife Field is part of our ongoing commitment to wildlife regeneration and sustainability across the UK. A commitment that we take seriously and actively look for ways to build upon.

Being a B Corp means meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, but more than that, it means genuinely caring about the impact we have on the world around us. Mornings like this one in Banstead are a reminder of why that matters: the connections formed between our team and the local community, the conversations sparked in children about nature and conservation, and the small but lasting contribution to a green space that will be enjoyed for years to come.

We’re grateful to Friends of Banstead Wildlife for organising such a welcoming and well-run event, and to the local school children for their enthusiasm and energy on the day. We look forward to more opportunities like this one, and to watching those snowdrops bloom.
