A few years ago, our non-executive director, Andrew Giles, was travelling in Western Kenya and observed a nearby derelict building.
Struck by the vision and need for a school – to teach local children, lift them out of poverty and help drive generational change – Croxsons was only too delighted to make something happen.
Through our charitable trust, we were able to purchase the land and building, and carry out restorative work, to form six classrooms. Since then, a further three classrooms have been added.
We have continued supporting the school by covering some of the teachers’ salaries, and the school currently has over 180 registered children, from reception to year 6.
Although the facilities are basic, in testing, the school outperforms the state’s own schools, which is a credit to the fantastic teachers who invest so much of themselves into the kids.
This excellent education, alongside daily meals, means that the children have the opportunity to succeed in the future. Croxsons is proud to help provide a community asset that offers the best chance to break the poverty cycle, and cause positive change in future generations.
